简单介绍： 晚清时代，一个荒唐的岁月；天下第一丑，一个不荒唐的故事。天津才子刘保山，两次进京会试，都直取状元，几乎“大魁天下”。而他却因不愿被权贵网罗，两次毅然放弃了泼天富贵，竟致走投无路，遁世于戏，成为当时被称为“下九流”的戏子。状元当戏子，满城风雨，天下奇闻。刘保山入戏班后扮丑行，携一头小毛驴墨玉登台，一出《探亲家》使其名噪京城。贫家女儿秀姑与刘保山患难相交，共话白头；而亲王公主五格格对他一见钟情，誓不别嫁。两位美丽的奇女子，使他的生命里程更为坎坷曲折。秀姑因惊人美貌被花花太岁垂涎。刘保山为救秀姑，一天连演三场，筹银赎人，因违犯班规，被逐出梨园。重返舞台后，执意改名为“刘赶山”。巡城御史路登高嫉妒刘赶山的盖世奇才，更怕他被亲王识拔重用，百计陷害。刘赶三以其侠肝义胆、过人机智，计斩作恶一方的花太岁，捉弄铁蹄洋刀的侵略军，更借小丑登台机会讥评时弊，痛骂伏势欺人的都察院，揭露无耻媚敌的六亲王，以致招来皮鞭拷打、杀身之祸。深爱他的五格格助他出逃，却不料又陷入“朝廷最高机密”--西太后与肃顺夺取最高权力的宫廷斗争之中。秀姑被总管太监安德海强娶为妻，其父惨死。刘赶三不顾五格格的阻拦，冒死与安德海同行南下，救出秀姑，自己却被当作安德海同党，一并问斩。为救刘赶三，秀姑向五格格求援，忍痛答应了五格格的苛刻条件，留在皇宫充当宫女，永远不再见刘赶三；而五格格向西太后求情，也付出了惨痛代价--嫁给她根本不爱的豪门“金龟婿”，牺牲了与刘赶三共结连理的希望。刘赶三落得孑然一身，只有和他台上一起演戏的“朋友”--毛驴墨玉，形影相吊…… 在线列表：官网1 官网2 官网3
